Pitchfest

Start-up businesses delivering cutting edge technology are thriving in the South West. 22 of the region’s high-growth potential tech businesses will be pitching their innovations to investors and influencers at Pitchfest, the live pitching competition at Venturefest SW. From data driven solutions for sustainable mining to technology for indoor farms, to the next generation of live interactive shows and anticounterfeit product authentication, the Pitchfest applicants are exciting and diverse and reflect the breadth and depth of the technology sector in the region. The Pitchfest semi-finals at Venturefest SW are hosted by UK Business Angels Association. Eight companies will be selected at the morning semi-finals to present in the afternoon session on the main stage, from which three winners will be chosen.

Hackfest - Inspiring the next generation of designers and engineers

Hackfest is a county-wide project across Devon for young people to come together to create product prototypes that respond to the issues of the future, led by Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs, Fab Lab Plymouth and Plymouth College of Art. About 100 students aged 14 to 19, from a range of different schools across Devon, have taken part in two day Hackfest events in both Exeter and Plymouth in the months before Venturefest SW. These events allow local young people to learn new digital and enterprise skills, design new ideas, create products or services and pitch those ideas to experts.

Winners of the Hackfest pitching sessions, selected by expert judges, will be presenting their ideas to business leaders, investors and industry professionals at Venturefest South West.
